When a person accumulates too many demerit points, they will receive a letter from Queensland Transport asking them to choose between a 3 month licence suspension, or a 12 month Good Driving Behaviour Period. A Good Driving Behaviour Period is essentially a bonus 2 points to last you a year. If you can get through that year without losing those points, that will be the end of it. However, if you lose those two points, you will receive a 6 month license suspension.

What Happens When I Breach a Good Driving Behaviour Period?
What Can I Do About My 6 Month Licence Suspension?
Provided you have not previously lost your licence for any reason (aside from State Penalties Enforcement Registry suspensions) within the last 5 years, you can apply for what is known as a Special Hardship Licence. A Special Hardship Licence is effectively a special licence which allows you to continue driving during your 6 month licence suspension for work or medical reasons only. Please note, Special Hardship Licence applications are quite complex and require detailed affidavit materials from both yourself and your employer setting out specific information as set out in the relevant legislation. If your Special Hardship Licence application fails, there is no right of appeal, and you cannot reapply.
